Shyanne's 7th Birthday

Well it isn't her birthday yet, that will take place on Wednesday and the great mother that I am decided to have a cake and the neighbor kids over. We also gave her the present she has been asking for all summer. Rock Band for Wii. We set it up in the game room and let all the kids play in the band. On Wednesday we will take her to dinner.
OK am I like all the other Americans: not getting enough sleep because of these olympic games. I'm so proud of our athletes especially Michael Phelps and Nastia Lukin. They are amazing and make me very nervous to watch. Hopefully I will get some sleep this week. I'm not in to track and field as much so I can go to be early.

Shyanne's First Dance Class

Well Shyanne loved her new dance classes. She will spend every Monday from 5-7 pm at the studio with the same teacher. She loved Hip hop and I knew she would. There were 5 girls in her first class and she was the only one for her 1.5 combination class. So boy was I excited to hear that she got a private lesson. She can't wait for her new shoes. She has been practicing all of her moves since she got home. I'm so proud of her!

She's Famous!

Shyanne made the paper (well her daddy put her in it). I just signed Shyanne up for another year of dance at Dana's Studio in Keller. She wanted to take hip hop soooo bad. So she is. She will be taking hip hop, ballet, tap and jazz on Monday nights from 5-7. That is a great time for mommy to run errands like WalMart and Target. She has moved up to the next level and now gets to wear hunter green leotards and her favorite botty shorts for hip hop.

It's Hot out here!

Yes yesterday we hit a record high in DFW: 107. and believe me it felt like it. We spent the rest of the afternoon floating in the pool. You couldn't stand to be outside without being in the water. Even the water was starting to get warm like a bath.

4 days until the opening ceremony of the Olypmics...... I can't wait. Go USA!

Yesterday's sermon was the first part of a series on Parenting 101. It was pretty good and hit home on several points. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series in hope that I will learn somethings to make me a better parent.

This is my last week off.

Summer is over

Well I can't believe that I'm about to say this but my summer is over. I have one more week off. Lightning Dancers start back on Aug. 11 which means I'm back to school everyday instead of 2 days a week for 2 hours like I've been doing. Teacher in-service starts on Aug. 18th and the first day of my 08-09 year starts on Aug. 25th. Ok, where did the summer go? Is it because I'm getting older and time goes by faster? I'm looking forward to getting back to school, being with my students and having a regular routine every day. This is going to be a great school year.
I still can't believe that Shyanne is going to be a 2nd grader. She is growing up so fast. We are going shopping for school clothes next week so I'll post pictures of her fashion show.
